A Young Star “Dr. Usama Riaz” had lost his life during the fight against novel Coronavirus.

Doctors are Meseeha of humans. They do not care about their own lives to save somebody’s life. During the current situation when pandemic coronavirus has spread over the world, doctors are giving their best to save the lives of people.

Similarly, Pakistani doctors are also playing an important role in the fight against coronavirus. A young doctor “Dr. Usman Riaz embraced martyrdom in the Gilgit Baltistan region of Pakistan. He was treating coronavirus patients in this region. He was died due to coronavirus and it was the fourth death from coronavirus. The health department of Gilgit Baltistan has urged authorities to declare Dr. Usman as a national hero.

Dr. Usman was the part of 10 member team which were tasked with the screening of people returning from other areas, particularly those coming from Iran via Taftan. Later he was suspected of giving service to the patients in the isolation center established for them in Gilgit Baltistan.
After his death, his colleagues said that Dr. Usman ignored his health during the fight against coronavirus. He paid full attention to the patients and serve them till late night as they have never been provided any services before.

A senior member of the Health Department, Dr. Zamman and focal person of Gilgit Baltistan government for Coronavirus said that they had personally met with Dr. Usman last week. Dr. Zamman told that when he met with DR Usman he was in the screening center. After performing his duty he went home. He was all right at that time. At home when his wife tried to wake him up, he didn’t respond. When he was checked, he was not well.

Then he was shifted to Provincial Headquarters Hospital in Gilgit city where he was admitted and on the ventilator. It was shocking news for local authorities. They sent his swab for the investigation that results in a positive case. Now it was confirmed that Dr. Usman had coronavirus.
Though it was a surprise for local authorities, so they repeated his swab test and it again confirmed positive for coronavirus. According to the officials in Gilgit, they had repeated his swab test. They said that they had learned two days ago that he had died and his brain has stopped working but since it was a sensitive matter and could have serious effects, they wanted to use all the resources at their disposal to save his life.

The symptoms of coronavirus are not the same in every person. It may vary from one person to another. For some people, it causes mild illness such as fever and cough. But for others, it can cause severe illness including pneumonia. It causes severe symptoms among adults and people suffering from other diseases.

The majority of people recover from this virus as if their immune system is strong. According to the World Health Organization, people with mild illness recover quickly within two weeks, while those with severe illness take about 6 weeks to recover.

Dr. Usama Riaz proved himself a real hero of Pakistan and proud of Gilgit Baltistan by losing his life during the fight against the novel coronavirus COVID-19. We pay tribute to him and pray that Allah saves us from this pandemic disease.
