Another promise made by Prime Minister Imran Khan to the people of Karachi was fulfilled. The first batch of 40 buses out of 80 imported by the federal government for the Green Line Rapid Bus Service reached Karachi. Under the Rs 24 billion Green Line project which was offloaded.


For the first time in Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city and economic hub, the PTI is launching a modern transport system. After the control and technology software load, the public will be able to avail this state-of-the-art facility. As expected, vehicles will run on city roads in a month or two.

The wait of the people of Karachi is finally over as off-loading of green line buses was going on at Karachi port.
Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, Federal Ministers Ali Haider Zaidi, Asad Umar, and Aminul Haq were expected to attend the off-loading ceremony of the first batch of 40 buses, imported by the federal government for the Karachi Green Line Rapid Bus Service. Meanwhile, Sindh Infrastructure Development Company CEO Nadeem Lodhi and other officials of the concerned departments were also expected to attend the function.

Due to the poor condition of public transport in Karachi, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif laid the foundation stone of the Green Line project in February 2016. Which was to be completed by the end of 2017. The initial cost of the project was estimated at Rs. 16.85 billion. However, at the suggestion of the Sindh government, the route of the project was extended for another 10 km. Which increased the cost to Rs. 24 billion.
The first consignment of these buses has reached Karachi. While the second consignment of 40 more buses is also expected to arrive in the next one to two months.


It should be noted that the Green Line bus project consists of 20 stops . Which will start from Power House Chowrangi North Karachi and end at Namish Chowrangi. The project will provide daily transport to 300,000 people.
