Lieutenant Nasir Khalid Embraces Martyrdom in North Waziristan

A serving Lieutenant of Pakistan Army Nasir Khalid is no more with us. The great military man was martyred by an IED blast during an operation in North Waziristan. He was his family’s only son. From the praise of the family’s sacrifice to the mother’s grief, the whole nation is engulfed in a whirlpool of emotions. Her mother had to accept the duty only with the sacrifice of her husband. With Lt. Nasir Khalid’s martyrdom, she has lost her only child.

 Lt. Nasir Khalid and two soldiers were martyred in this terrorist attack. The terrorists planted an improvised explosive device (IED) on the side of the road. It went off near a convoy of troops providing protection to road construction teams working on the Ghariom section of Shaga-Nishpa road in North Waziristan.

About Lieutanant Nasir Khalid

Lt. Nasir Khalid had a promising military career ahead of him having graduated from the Australian Defence Force Academy.

Shaheed Lt Nasir Hussain was a brilliant cadet. Due to his extraordinary performance in PMA, he was selected for Royal Military College, Australia. He graduated as the best foreign cadet. Today this brilliant officer sacrificed his life

Pakistan’s tribal area of North Waziristan is situated adjacent to Afghanistan. The area has long suffered due to a lack of rule of law until the recent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (KP-FATA) merger.

Since the early 2000s, the area has been plagued with militancy and terrorism. Despite hopes of the decades-long ‘War on Terrorism‘ coming to an end in Afghanistan with the withdrawal of the United States troops, Pakistan’s battles continue.

Brave Soldiers like Lieutenant Nasir Khalid protects our borders and sacrifice their lives. May his soul rest in peace. And may his family find the support and strength to overcome a deeply tragic loss.

Lieutenant martyred alongside two other soldiers

Lieutenant Nasir Hussain Khalid, Naik Muhammad Imran, and Sepoy Usman Akhtar embraced martyrdom. Naik Muhammad Imran was 33 years old and a resident of Faisalabad. while Sepoy Usman Akhtar was 30 years old and a resident of Rawalpindi. Moreover, Four soldiers were injured. Security forces shut down the area and launched a search operation.

Lt. Nasir Khalid, a brave young army officer was martyred in an IED blast in North Waziristan like so many countless others in battle. The incident of a soldier dying in an IED blast is not unique however the life story of the individual in question in this case is.

Today, Lt. Nasir Khalid’s mother stands alone in life. A woman who has lost everything that makes life worth living, Nasir’s mother has given more sacrifices for this country than one could imagine.

Lt. Khalid Nasir was no ordinary soldier. Completing the 137th Long Course of Pakistan Military Academy (PMA), Khalid was also a graduate of the Royal Military Academy of Australia.

When previously referring to Nasir’s mother’s enormous sacrifices for the country, and how one could not imagine her pain as she has lost everything in life worth living for, the woman in question was already a widow mourning her husband before she lost Nasir as well. When Lt. Nasir Khalid was a child, his father, who was a police officer, also earned Shahadat.

Nasir’s mother has sacrificed her husband and her son for this country, both giving their lives to keep us safe.

However, Nasir’s mother now finds herself alone with no family. Nasir’s martyrdom is a stark reminder that our soldiers, our heroes, give up their lives too often all for our protection. A valiant sacrifice and his mother’s hero, Nasir will be laid to rest soon.

Pakistan mourns the death of its brave son

Condolences from all over the country have been pouring out on social media. Everyone has been marking how Nasir Khalid’s family has given so many sacrifices for the country.

Army personnel carried the coffin of the young soldier, draped in the national flag of Pakistan, and then lowered it into his last resting place near a seminary where he had learned the Holy Quran as a child.

A large number of people, including local army commanders, were present in the graveyard who later laid wreaths on the grave on behalf of the army’s top brass, including the chief of the army staff.

Funeral prayer of the great hero

The funeral prayer of Lt Khalid was offered by hundreds of people in K.H. Khurshid Football Stadium. AJK President Sardar Masood Khan, Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider, and PTI regional chief Barrister Sultan Mahmood also offered his funeral prayer.

Lt Khalid was born in Muzaffarabad. He was one of the five children of police official Naseer Salaria.

Paying tribute to him at his funeral, Prime Minister Haider said yet another son of Kashmir had sacrificed his life for the defense of Pakistan that every Kashmiri considered as their ultimate destination.

Nasir Khalid is just one of many young Pakistani soldiers who lose their lives while protecting us. Not only is the Pakistan Army protecting our borders, but they are handling civil issues as well.

Recently, the Karachi rains brought out the harsh reality, incompetence, and negligence of the Sindh Government. When the District Administration could not handle rescue operations, the Pakistan Army was requested to assist in those as well.

General Qamar Javaid Bajwa visited the family of Lieutenant Nasir Hussain Khalid Shaheed

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javaid Bajwa said that no threat can deter the resolve of a nation that is united, resilient, and honors its heroes.

The COAS made these remarks during his visit to the family of Lieutenant Nasir Hussain Khalid Slehria Shaheed at Rawalpindi, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
