Lieutenant Faiz Sultan Shaheed was born on Sept 3, 1985. Faiz Sultan was the eldest among five brothers and sisters. His early education receives F G Public School, Kharian, and later from Military College, Jhelum. He joined the PMA in 2005 and passed out with flying colors in April 2007. Lieutenant Faiz Sultan was commissioned in the elite Bawanja battalion of the Piffer. The Regiment is one of the finest infantry battalions of the Pakistan army.
He knew about the fate of the hazardous operation very well. That he knew in a difficult territory and an unconquerable task he might let down his life. He sinister a note in his diary and a telephone message to his beloved mother that. “I leave my home in my uniform but soon I will come back in sabz Hilali. I got everything that I desired without losing anything”. Faiz had loaded his bags with eight additional magazines of ammunition and six hand grenades. He led his men with ideal determination, eliminating more than 30 battle-hardened and well-trained. Terrorists before a volley of bullets, including one from a 12.7 caliber heavy machine gun, hit his chest. Faiz embraced shahadat on the spot.
From Mugal village in this era, Subedar Malik Sahib Khan Awan plate up in “Bawanja” an elite Piffer Regiment; for thirty years. His son Faiz Sultan joined the force as Second Lieutenant to carry. The baton of martial tradition to the next generation. This encourages the son of Chakwal was born on 03 September 1985. According to the mother of a shaheed, she always used to cater to him after taking ablution (was). That’s why; it seems that ALLAH Almighty endowed him with the famed morality of patriotism and loyalty to the nation. And he got the special blessings of Almighty to bear. With brave with all challenges with a special kind of courage.
Faiz Sultan begins to scribble his diaries in Military College Jhelum. His continued scrawling for eight years since class 8th gathered into a huge volume of material. Going through these diaries reveal his activity of constant extension from age thirteen to twenty-two. The language and conception process are seen to develop fully with passing days and years. His diaries let out his constant disturbance for his family as well as for the country’s increasing turmoil. He was always disturbed by his sibling’s education, well being, health, and future. Once on leave, he would pass most of his time with his sisters and mother.
One of his diaries has been brought out by the title “AKHRI DUS DIN” (Last Ten Days). Which is undoubtedly an embodiment of his true feelings and love for Pakistan. It starts from the heart twist words “We Die, So You May Live”. That reflects the spirit of sacrifice that this brave soldier had in his heart. His whole diary went through the amazing path of divination, devotion & dedication. He had a strict habit of self- reappraisal. And so, his diary seems to think about every folly. He committed every lapse he made, and every correction he sought.
Lt Faiz sultan was a great admirer of Hazrat Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
His whole life is filled with such things that distinguish him from others. As well as reveals that he had intuition regarding his final destiny. His whole diary is testimony to it.
This determinant son of soil told to his mother in his last telephone call, “Mother! As a daughter in law of a Soldier, Wife of a soldier & Mother of a soldier. If you ever get any sad news then dear mother stands firm like the mountain of patience.”
Lt Faiz Sultan was resolved in his mission to get rid of the enemies. This nation with his full might and vigor. He knew about the fate of hazardous operations very well. He also knew that he might have to lay down. His life while accomplishing the insurmountable task in the difficult terrain. Then also he steps forward for “Operation SherDil” at (Mohmand Agency). And prepared himself well with weaponry as per need of the hour. His resolution to serve his motherland reached to the apex. When he led his men with exemplary motivation & successfully got control of two ridges. Named ZaraySar & Sur Qammar from where arsonists used to control the whole Mohmand Agency. Lt Faiz rescued an injured soldier as well. This passionate son of soil remained cool and perfectly compact while going. Through all difficulties to achieve his greater goal of SHAHADAT.
On 11th June 2009, at Assar time Lt Faiz Sultan Malik hold shahadat on spot. By an utterance of the final words. “ALLAH-O-AKBAR “and receiving 22 bullets in his chest after leading a successful operation. In this operation (ISPR) 35 terrorists were honorably killed. His body remained there on the mountain slope for two days but still fresh. As if he was falling asleep. His body is omitted by a Platoon of FC and on 13th June 2009. His parents encounter his “Jaside-e-khaki” wrapped in Sabz Hilali, with salute & with the words of” SHUKAR ALHAMDULLILAH”. That shows their Eman and Patriotism. Lt Faiz Sultan is enfolded in his village named Maghal in Chakwal District. He has been granted with bravery award of Sitara-i-Basalat posthumously in the year 2011 by the President of Pakistan.
May Allah rest his soul in eternal home and grant strength to his family members. And friends to withstand his untimely departure from this mortal world. Faiz, we are proud of you and we salute your abandonment and commitment and promise you. That we will not let the enemies of your and our motherland succeed in achieving their sinister designs. Long live the martyrs of Operation Rah-e-Haq.
