What is a novel coronavirus (COVID-19)? Safety Precautions

CBC News medical contributor and family physician Dr. Peter Lin breaks down the facts about novel coronavirus | Courtesy: CBC News

There are many types of coronavirus but not very dangerous to humans, now a newly identified coronavirus is identified which is dangerous to humans and can spread easily from one person to another person. Apparently, it starts spreading from Wuhan city of China, and it has now spread to several other countries affecting like a fiction movie. As the number of confirmed cases and deaths is steadily increasing every day, health officials are working on all fronts to find out more about this virus and take steps to prevent its spread.

Novel Coronavirus 2020, Symptoms, How it spreads? And Prevention

Researchers said mammals and birds are basically caused by a newly identified coronavirus which is transmittable from animals to humans, including diarrhea in pigs and cows, and upper respiratory disease in chickens. In humans, the virus causes respiratory infections, which are often mild, but potentially fatal.

These viruses are common in animals around the world, but only a few of them infect humans. Coronaviruses can rarely spread from animals to humans. Coronaviruses are known as the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (SARS-CoV), both are known to cause more severe symptoms.

The virus first spread to people in Wuhan who visited a local seafood and animal market, officials can only say that the animal is likely to kill humans. However, in a new study, researchers set the genes for 2019-nCoV (as the virus is now known) and then compared it to genetic variants of more than 200 coronaviruses that are found in different animals around the world which have serious effects to the environment also. In the journal Medical Virology, and findings are suggesting that 2019-nCoV is usually caused by snakes.

Coronaviruses are a type of virus that commonly affects the respiratory tract of mammals, including humans. They are associated with the common cold, pneumonia, and severe respiratory syndrome (SARS) and can also affect the intestines.

Most coronavirus symptoms are similar to other upper respiratory infections, including runny nose, cough, sore throat, and sometimes fever. In most cases, you may not know if you have a coronavirus or any other cold-forming virus, such as rhinovirus.

Those infected with the infection include respiratory syndrome in the Middle East, which was caused by a coronary virus that came out in 2012. Infection with the MERS virus can cause fever, cough, and shortness of breath, and is especially dangerous in the elderly or those with weak immunity system or other diseases.

As per reports, The Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-Cue) previously was reported in Saudi Arabia before 8 years in 2012 and has since even its spread to human beings in 25 other countries also including the United States of America.

As per researchers Coronaviruses primarily affect the mammals and birds’ upper respiratory and gastrointestinal tract. Currently, seven famous Coronavirus strains affect humans. Coronaviruses are the cause of a significant percentage of all common diarrhea in human adults and children. The coronavirus causes nausea due to some symptoms, such as fever, sore throat adenoids, mainly in humans in winter and spring. Coronary viruses can cause pneumonia also which is also a very dangerous and deadly disease, either it can be directly viral pneumonia or secondary bacterial pneumonia and bronchitis. Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) discovered in 2003, is a rare pathogen of the most famous human coronary virus because it causes both upper and lower respiratory tract infections. Unlike rhinoviruses (a common cold virus), human coronavirus is difficult to grow in the laboratory.

Coronaviruses also cause many diseases in farm animals and livestock pets, some of which can be serious and are a threat to the farming industry. In chickens, infectious bronchitis virus (IBV), a coronavirus, targets not only the respiratory tract but also the urogenital tract. The virus can spread to various organs throughout the chicken.

One more research findings are farm animals include porcine coronavirus (transmissible gastroenteritis coronavirus, TGE) and the bovine coronavirus and these are two also critical coronaviruses, resulting in diarrhea in young animals. Feline coronavirus: Two forms, the Flynn Interact coronavirus, is a pathogen of minor medical importance, but due to the mutation of the virus, it may cause final infective peritonitis (FIP), a disease associated with high mortality. Oh man, such a complexity in these viruses even scientists also involved in headache as two types of coronaviruses infect frets: the ferret enteric coronavirus causes a gastrointestinal syndrome called epizootic cortisol enteritis (ECE), and a more lethal systemic version of the virus. There are two types of canine coronavirus (CCOV), known as ferrite systemic coronavirus (FSC) in cats, one that causes mild gastrointestinal disease and one such. Which causes respiratory disease.

Mouse hepatitis virus (MHV) is a coronavirus that causes an infectious disease with high mortality, especially among the colonies of laboratory mice. The pseudo crystalline virus (SDAV) is a highly contagious coronavirus of laboratory mice, which can be transmitted via direct contact between individuals and indirectly by aerosols. Severe infections include sputum, lachrymal and herpes simplex patients and high tropism.

Severe Acute Diarrhea Syndrome Corona Virus (SADS-CoV) Causes Diarrhea in Pigs.

According to a news release, the virus, the Porcine Delta Coronavirus (PDCoV), was first identified in Chinese pigs in 2012 and later outbreaks of pigs’ diarrhea in Ohio. The disease is potentially fatal capable of infecting humans cats and chicken cells in the lab.

For the first time – showing that the virus can bind to a receptor in human cells, researchers said they demonstrated the ability to cross-species transmission.

From this point on, it’s just a matter of whether it can replicate within cells and cause disease in these animals and humans.

According to the CDC, the coronavirus is a proportional cause of mild or moderate upper respiratory tract diseases in humans and occasionally causes lower respiratory tract infections, such as pneumonia or bronchitis. Two coronaviruses SARS and MARS – from this animal host – have been exposed in this century for the deadly outbreak in humans.

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus (SADS-CoV) Infection with human results in significant morbidity and mortality and death mainly results from respiratory failure. While lung infection is the most common site, in some patients the brain is affected.

Most cases of the canine coronavirus contract with the body of oral contact. A dog may also be affected by eating from contaminated food bowls or by direct contact with an infected dog. Crowded and unconscious conditions lead to the delivery of coronavirus.

Humans cannot treat these diseases with cats, because they are a type of infectious disease. FIV (fly immunodeficiency virus), sometimes called feline aids, weakens the cat’s lymphatic system and eventually attacks the entire immune system.
