We made transgender people marginalized into a group and realized that they did not belong to us and separated them. Without understanding, what is their life, what is their heart going through, we use to mistreat them. Everything is created by Allah, man, a woman all creature is created by him, Nothing is in our hand, then why do we make this difference.
So here I’m going to share a story of that brave, competent, and intelligent transgender who achieved her goal in life. And that is Dr. Sara Gill. After facing many hardships and struggling now she is on her destination. But she will not stop here, with many dreams and hopes she will precede more for her community.
About her Life
She is a social worker. Her main job is to work for human rights. Most of her life was spent in this work. Her whole life had been very difficult. The same as one transgender has to face through his life. She got an education from Pakistan Air Force School. Then she was enrolled at Jinnah Medical and Dental College Karachi. There she graduated in 2021, to become the first transgender doctor.
She was selected by the State Department for the IVLP Fellowship Program. During her medical degree, she decided to declare her gender identity. Her family, who had been forcing her to keep secrets, released her after she was exposed. “Our community has great respect for Islam as well as for the history of Muslim rulers,” she said.
The community continues to face inhumane treatment. It has become a symbol of discrimination and shame.” She is the president of an NGO called the Moorat Interactive Society and also a member of the Gender Interactive Alliance (GIA), which works to end violence and discrimination against the transgender community. She is a leading activist and has represented Pakistan’s transgender community in various national and international forums, and has run HIV / AIDS awareness campaigns.
Her purpose of becoming a doctor was that while she was growing, she had a lot of things that were related to her health, but she could not share them with anyone. There are many incidents where transgender got ignored by society even though they lost their life. So, that was a wake-up call for her, to decide to become the doctor. During this journey, her family tills the degree of intermediate. But they withdraw to support her when she decided to release the secret of transgender. But she struggles for her community and succeeds. Hats off to this brave transgender.
